People affected with strep throat will not all experience the same symptoms and it will vary depending on their age
In young infants, symptoms would include the release of a thick yellowish (or) greenish colored nasal fluid along with reduced appetite and irritability.
Between the ages of 1 to 4, a strep throat infection would cause throat tenderness, soreness, difficulty in swallowing and swelling of the lymph nodes (lymph glands).
Teens and older children with strep throat may experience intense pain in their throats, which makes swallowing very difficult. The infection may also cause swollen tonsils with a thin layer of pus over them.
Just like teens adults may also experience pain in the throat and trouble with swallowing but usually the symptoms are much milder and not as intense.
Apart from these symptoms, one may also experience headaches, stomach pain, vomiting, and the appearance of reddish dots at the top of the mouth towards the rear end.
It is also important to know that these symptoms don't necessarily indicate a strep throat infection as other infections may also cause symptoms similar to these. It is therefore essential that one consults a doctor first and takes the necessary tests in order to confirm the medical condition and receive the required treatment.
